Inspired by the classic book, author (and World War I lieutenant) Hugh Lofting reaches out to his son during wartime by writing a magical story about a kind-hearted doctor who can talk to the animals. When Doctor John Doolittle learns that a mysterious disease is afflicting the monkeys of Africa, he sets off on a musical adventure to come to the animals' aid.
