Downtown Dayton will be alive and pulsing with artistic life on September 12! Urban Nights Arts Fest (part of the Downtown Dayton Partnership’s Urban Nights event) will boast a new feature this year: An Open House & Arts Market at the Schuster Center and the Victoria Theatre from 5-9 p.m. The show will go on, rain or shine!

Participating in this part of Urban Nights Arts Fest will be the resident companies of the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre and The Loft Theatre at the Metropolitan Arts Center: CITYFOLK, Dayton Ballet, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Dayton Opera, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, The Human Race Theatre Company and Rhythm in Shoes, as well as Victoria Theatre Association and Culture Works.

AT THE LOFT THEATRE
The season has begun at one of Dayton’s best places to see new theatre! The Human Race Theatre Company will already be in production with Over the Tavern, running at The Loft, September 4 – 21.

AT BOTH THE VICTORIA THEATRE AND THE SCHUSTER CENTER
Get the backstory on these fabulous arts facilities and get a peek backstage as well. Guided tours of each venue will be held every 30 minutes, starting at 5 p.m., with the last tour leaving at 9 p.m.

Single tickets to Victoria Theatre Association presentations, including the Chase Broadway Series, Universal 1 Variety Series, Young at Heart Family Series and Star Attractions go on sale Friday, September 12! The other arts groups’ events are already on sale – it will be the perfect time to get your series subscription or buy tickets to certain performances.

Open Rehearsal with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra
Sit in on a rehearsal of Dayton’s gem of an orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Neal Gittleman! The rehearsal starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Mead Theatre at the Schuster Center. Visitors may come and go as they choose during the two-hour rehearsal.

Coffee & Video in the Donor Lounges
Relax in the Donor Lounges (Loge Level at the Schuster Center) and enjoy coffee or other beverages at the bar, and watch video clips from Dayton’s rich arts community.

Arts Market in the Wintergarden
Come ready to shop! Each of the resident companies will have merchandise for sale, along with other special treats and collectibles. In addition to great T-shirts, coffee mugs and other items, you’ll find special “blind auction” items on which you can bid, including: Autographed show posters (George Benson, Frankie Valli, The Ten Tenors, Ted Neeley from Jesus Christ Superstar, Sinbad and the cast of Mamma Mia! to name a few); a walk-on role in a Human Race Theatre Production; an autographed refrigerator that has been signed by many of the celebrities that have passed through our venues, including: Bill Cosby, Jerry Lewis, Regis Philbin, Jerry Seinfeld, Joan Rivers, Danny Glover, Gerry Faust, Scott Hamilton, Shirley Jones, Larry Gatlin, Yo Yo Ma, Jack Hanna, Peggy Fleming, Charles Osgood and Rita Moreno!

Citilites Bar & Restaurant
Nestled right off the Wintergarden of the Schuster Center, Citilites Restaurant & Bar will be open for a cozy cocktail (try the Urban Nights Martini), appetizers, and conversation.
