About the Mid-Day Arts Café:
The second Mid-Day Arts Café of the season features “Keeping the Orchestra Alive: How the Dayton Philharmonic Programs for Changing Times,” led by Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Artistic Director and Conductor Neal Gittleman and Paul Helfrich, President and CEO of Dayton Performing Arts Alliance on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
This hour-long lunch program provides an inside look at the current challenges facing the performing arts and how the Dayton Philharmonic changes with the times, yet remains true to its mission. Helfrich and Gittleman discuss programming strategies to reach new audiences, the importance of education and the changing priorities for philanthropy. Also on the agenda is a discussion about the process of selecting the Philharmonic season repertoire and how the orchestra has responded to changing times in the Dayton community.
Now in its fourth year, the Mid-Day Arts Café series continues to highlight the professional arts organizations in the Dayton area. One Tuesday a month, a participating arts organization presents an hour-long session in the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center’s Mathile Theatre, providing a little insight into its mission, its productions and events, and maybe even a preview performance. Come prepared with those questions you’ve been wanting to ask! Each Mid-Day Arts Café begins with a box lunch provided by Citilites Restaurant & Bar at 11:30 a.m., and the presentation starts promptly at noon.
Ticket Center Stage is the only outlet authorized to sell tickets for events at the Schuster Center and Victoria Theatre.
