Wintergarden Wonderland

Schuster Center Wintergarden
Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmans Day & New Year’s Day

Join us for a Dayton holiday tradition: the Kettering Health Network Wintergarden Wonderland!

Free activities are offered throughout the holiday season. First, the whole family can enjoy the Rike’s Wonderland Windows in the Schuster Center Wintergarden. The animated elves and animals first appeared in NCR’s New York office windows in 1943, but many Daytonians remember them from their annual holiday pilgrimage to the Rike’s Department Store which sat on the corner of Second and Main Streets (where the Schuster Center now sits).

Then, the little ones can visit Santa, shop for holiday gifts at The Tike’s Shop and create holiday ornaments with K12 Gallery.  And don’t forget the live music on Sundays!

SANTA’S SECRET
Have you found Santa’s Secret in Rike’s Wonderland Windows yet? Santa and his magical team of reindeer made a stop at the Schuster Center and left a special item in each window. Search and discover the common item, fill out an entry form and drop it into the entry box! The winning entry will receive a family four-pack of tickets for the rest of the PNC Family Series 2011-2012 season. Santa’s Secret will be revealed here and on Victoria Theatre Association’s Facebook page after January 3.

What’s Santa’s Secret? Each window box contains one of the famous hangar 18 aliens. For those of you not familiar with the history, in 1947, there was a report of a flying saucer crash in Roswell, New Mexico. It was recovered by the Air Force, the saucer and it’s little alien occupants were sent to Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio. From all reports, the aliens in the boxes are very similar to the ones recovered at the crash site. We hope you found these aliens just as elusive as the ones at Wright Field!
